What is the study about?

Researchers at the University of St Andrews have found that the glow of your skin affects how healthy - and attractive - you appear, and eating fruit and vegetables is the best way to achieve the most desirable complexion.

It is believed that the effect on the brightness of the skin might be explained by the carotenoid pigments that we get from the fruit and vegetables in our diet.

The researchers found that people rated the bright skin consistent with eating these fruits as more attractive.

Fruits that are particularly high in these antioxidant pigments include peaches, nectarines and plums.
